401(k) Plan
United Rentals is committed to supporting your total well-being. In addition to our competitive health benefits, we offer benefits for retirement savings as additional protection and assistance.
Through the United Rentals 401(k) Plan, you may save for retirement on a Pretax or Roth (post-tax) basis. You may begin contributing at any time once you become eligible by making contributions to your account through convenient payroll deductions.
First time – visit principal.com/welcome to log in and secure your account. You will create your own username, password and security answers.
Ongoing – visit principal.com and click “Log In” on the right.
As a reminder the UR 401k Plan allows you to save both on a traditional pretax as well as a Roth (after-tax) basis up to IRS limits. You can elect in whole percentages from 1–80% and changes to elections are allowed at any time. Non-union employees receive ER Matching contributions on a per check basis dependent on the percent you contribute each check (formula is 100% on first 1% contributed and 50% on next 5% contributed). This ER Match is then fully vested after two years’ service.
Union Employees are only eligible for this plan as outlined in their Collective Bargaining Agreement.
